Immediate Apple phone and Apple TV questions
Apple TV - Can I watch movies other than just those purchased from iTMS? What codecs does it support?
Apple Phone - Can it display Flash content? If so, what version (hopefully FP9)? How much built-in memory? Will Apple provide a SDK for it?
I’m channeling my inner-geek
And its says I’ll be switching to Cingular this June and getting the new Apple iPhone (iPod, phone, camera, and it runs OSX). You must always obey your inner-geek.
Adobe is bringing back Premiere to the Mac
I just saw this on MacCentral. Wow! And Encore is coming too. I like competition and this is a good thing, but its been a long time and Adobe has a lot of ground to make up. They’ll need to mend a lot of fences to get ex-Premiere users to swap back from FCP (or offer some really great competitive upgrades).
“Adobe will announce on Thursday that it will revive a Mac version of Premiere, the software maker’s video program aimed at professional editors. The new Mac version will only run on Intel-based Macs and will be part of a larger Adobe Production Studio suite that will include Adobe Encore DVD and Adobe Soundbooth.”

By the way, in case it’s not clear, I’m very excited about this news.
OSX Utility to resize a window to an exact size?
On my Windows box at work, I’ve used Sizer (http://www.brianapps.net/sizer.html) to resize my window panes to an exact size when I was doing screen captures. Its a great little (and free) utility that allows you to resize any window to an exact pre-determined size.
I’m looking for a similar app for OSX to use with Snapz Pro X. If anyone has any suggestions, I’d appreciate it.
Long time since I last posted
I haven’t been very diligent with my blog posts over the last few months. I’ve switched jobs, been busy, and a bit lazy as well. So here is the quick catch-up.
I had been working at MGM MIRAGE in their graphic arts department as a senior Flash designer working on their electronic marketing. The work was not very motivating, but my co-workers were a blast and I was still doing Flash sidework where I was able to stretch my Flash/ActionScript wings and do things that were more challenging. A few months ago, I was presented an opportunity to work as a UI Designer for Aristocrat Gaming working on the UI for their casino management applications. It was an opportunity I didn’t want to pass up. So, as of October, I have been working at Aristocrat. There have been some challenges since I started. The biggest challenge has been incorporating UI design into the current process. It really didn’t exist before. There have been some growing pains, which is to be expected. Anyhow, two months in and we are moving forward. Its been bumpy at times, but there is a lot of support for it and it will be successful. BTW - Fireworks rocks for rapid prototyping of interfaces. I’ve always used it for my Flash development for it has been a super super tool for me in the last two months doing mockups.
Whoo Hoo!!! Flex 2 Builder for Mac on Labs
Flex2 Builder 2 for Mac is on labs. Get it while its hot! http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flexbuilder2/
And it appears to be a universal app too.
Mac Pro has arrived.
My Mac Pro only shipped on Thursday evening and is already in my little hands. I’m still busy moving a lot of files around. However, I took a quick minute to run Cinebench to see how these dual 3’s run. Cinebench came back with a 1605 rendering. Not too shabby!! When I have more time over the weekend, I’ll see how non-universal binary apps run.
Xmas is coming early.
I just got notification that my new Mac Pro has shipped. Yippee!! And even better, I read that Flash Player 9 for Intel Macs has been released too. Yippee x 2!!!
Ordered the new Mac Pro
Its been quite a while since I’ve had a new Mac pro desktop. I’ve been doing most of my work on Windows for the last few years. When Apple switched over to Intel and then I saw Parallels running virtualization, I knew I would be switching back. So today I put my order in for a new Mac Pro desktop. I’m quite excited and looking forward to it arriving.
Flash-AMFPHP calendar for WordPress
When AMFPHP 1.0 was released, I used it to create a simple Flash calendar for my blog. In the last two weeks, I’ve had two people email me about it. So I’ve decided to produce a little tutorial on it this week. Stay tuned.
