There was some good sample apps and extensions in there that could either be used as-is or updated (provided the source code was supplied) for the newer product releases.

Of course, if you need to test a lot of Flash player versions, don’t bother with uninstalling and reinstalling, just grab Flash Plugin Switcher.

I went ahead and ordered my copy tonight just to get it out of the way. Now I only have to wait until Septembe for it to ship.

I will be interested to start seeing some of the UI screenshots. In particular, I would like to see the new easing tool that is talked about in the specs for Flash8. I know a few designers who would love a better easing tool since they are more visually based. I am also hoping there are some improvments to the components, even as simple as bringing them up to par with the Flex components. Maybe Monday or throughout the week that info will be revealed.

Its no secret anymore than everyone is expecting Macromedia to announced Flash 8 on Monday (8/8). But will they release Studio8 as well? I have seen a few blog posts about it, but ran across this article on CIO website tonight.

http://www.cio.de/news/cio_worldnews/812030/

Macromedia marks release of Studio 8

Macromedia on Monday takes the wraps off Studio 8. The new suite includes enhancements to Dreamweaver and Fireworks, and now houses Contribute and FlashPaper, as well.

Studio 8 includes an upgraded Flash 8 development tool with new video workflow capabilities and an easier but more powerful UI, said Jim Guerard, vice president of product management and marketing at Macromedia. Flash 8 also brings enhanced graphic effects and animation, and the capability to more effectively author mobile content, he said.

… (more at the URL)

Sounds like CIO let the cat out of the bag a bit early. Either way, I’ll have Flash8 or Studio8 on order as soon as they are announced.

First I would like to say a major thanks to Jen deHaan for publishing both the recent tidbit on the MediaPlayback scrubbing event and for the ObjectDumper back awhile ago.

Jen is not the first or the only person to post these gems on Flash and probably not the last. But my question is, when we blog about these great finds, is anyone recording it and/or posting it in the LiveDocs and making sure that during the next update that everyone gets updated docs? If you don’t catch it when its ‘hot’ at the top of FullAsAGoog or MXNA, does it disappear into obsecurity, forever lost into the depths of blog-dom?

I would hope not, but I am afraid it may be doing just that.
